AIR EVAC LIFETEAM 16
|
Welcome. This page has been established to provide a single portal
for information about the tragic crash of AEL 16.
I did not know Tiffany Miles or Allan Bragwell, but everything
I have read and heard tells me they were both wonderful people. I was however a
very close friend of Michael Baker. For those who did not know him,
Michael was a kind, caring person, the type that you do not meet too often. My
family and I opened our home and our hearts to Michael, and even though we had
only known him for a little over a year and a half we felt like we had know him
forever. We were fortunate to have what little time we did with him.
All three will be sorely missed, but will
forever be remembered.
I would be more than happy to post anything of
value on this site in regards to Air Evac 16 and her crew. If you have content
you would like to contribute
please contact me.

03/31/2008 - COIN
UPDATE
As of this date, I am officially out of available
coins. 50 were sent to the Helen Keller Hospital Ambulance service
and they may have a few left. I am awaiting confirmation from them.
I will be posting numbers here in the next few days, I think you
will be surprised how it all turned out!
I do have a handful of coins that were ordered but
never paid for. I am planning on getting in touch with those people
in the next few days to confirm the status of their order. If the
coins are released for sale, I will be posting them on eBay and they
will go to the highest bidder. Again, 100% of those funds will be
going to the families so should be fun to watch! I will keep you
posted.

be receiving them by the end of the week. As such, I have fulfilled

03/17/2008 - More information on the celebration for Michael Baker:
DRESS CODE
Some people have asked what the proper attire should be for the Michael’s
Memorial Celebration. It should be… in whatever you feel most comfortable.
My first thought was business casual but thought better to let people come
however they feel their best. No one should miss out because of dress
code. We only request that you remain within the legal public dress code
requirements for the state of Utah… Loincloth, kilts, it might still be a
bit nippy to dress down too far….
Discounted Tickets for MOLON ROUGE
Dance Performance for $10.
If you want to attend the Dance Performance. We
have an arrangement with the dance company to provide a block of tickets for
all who care to go. They are offering discount tickets for all who call in
ask for the ROB BAKER Party For Michael’s Memorial. The Price is
$10/ticket. If you would like to go, Please call them directly and get your
tickets… You
may reach them at the Kingsbury Hall ticket office at 801 581 7100. It is
located at 1395 Presidents Cir #190, Salt Lake City UT 84112.
This show is part of a series that the dance company is doing. Kelli,
Mike’s Niece, has a lot of dancing in the Wednesday night show call “Let it
Be”, a dance tribute to the Beatles. If you are around for that you may
also request tickets. If you want more info on the shows you can go to the
website.

There is also a chance we may be able to provide some to the Helen

if that becomes a reality. Please do not contact the gift shop and
request coins at this time.
From this point forward, if I do have coins
available, they will only be shipped via USPS and a shipping charge

03/05/2008 - Coin Update
Much
like you, I have been anxiously awaiting the arrival of the
coins. When the order was placed I was told it would be 10-14 days
for production, and then 2-3 days for shipping (to me). We are now
well passed that point and I have been in contact with the company
making the coins. This
morning I received an update from them, of which is included below.
Although they have not committed to a ship date, I am hopeful in speaking
with them further that the coins will be shipped to me within the next week.
I can
however guarantee that they will then be shipped out to all of you the very
next day after I receive them. I have already prepared all of the packaging,
envelopes etc, addressed them, and they are sitting waiting to be stuffed
with coins!!!
To
explain the delay a little further, on the face of the coin that has the
images of Mike, Tiffany and Allan, the original design called for that
entire side of the coin being one image. When I refer to an image, I mean
that they were going to create an "photograph" of that side, and then place
that photograph as the coin face. This would have also precluded any of the
actual coin showing through. I did not like that idea. Instead, the coins
were ordered with each portrait being a separate image. This increased the
coin cost slightly, but allows for the coin color to show through not only
behind the images but around the outside also. As a result, they now have to
place each image separately (3 times per coin for 600 coins), and then
encase that entire side with an clear epoxy dome to protect the images. I
can understand the additional work and time required and am confident the
end result will be stunning.
I will send out an update email AS SOON as the
coins are in the mail to you or your distributor.

AIR EVAC 16 MEMORIAL FUND INFORMATION
(courtesy of James Spann, ABC 33/40)
As many of you know, Air Evac 16
(Based out of Muscle Shoals) crashed at or around 3:00 AM on
12/30/07 in the Barton, AL (Colbert Co.) area while performing a
search for a lost hunter. One man involved in the search said the
Air Evac crew had spotted the hunter just before 3 a.m. and were
holding a spotlight on him to show ground searchers where to find
him. Suddenly, the helicopter crashed, causing a huge explosion
while killing all three crew members:
Pilot - Michael Baker
Nurse - Tiffany Miles
Paramedic - Allen Bragwell
The hunter was not seriously
injured but was taken to a local hospital for
treatment, officials said. Family members of the hunter notified
emergency
operators at about 1 a.m. today that he was missing.
There has been a fund set up for
the families of Air Evac 16. Allan’s family
has four children and Tiffany’s family has two children. The fund
has been
set up with Bank Independent in the Florence/Muscle
Shoals/Tuscumbia/Sheffield area. Contributors in North Alabama can
