AE-16 crew (2007)

This page is not intended to infringe on any web sites that have been posted, or will be posted in remembrance of the crew members. I simply wanted to share a little insight on each person with the world. If you would like to provide information, stories and photos on each crew member that you knew I would be happy to include them on this page. If you know of another web site that is dedicated to Michael, Tiffany or Allan, or would like to share your comments, thoughts, stories and photographs please email me.

I would like to personally request anyone with photographs or video from the memorial service to contact me. I would like to add a page dedicated to that service on this site.

ARCHIVED INFORMATION

03/17/2008 - More information on the celebration for Michael Baker:

DRESS CODE
Some people have asked what the proper attire should be for the Michael’s Memorial Celebration.  It should be… in whatever you feel most comfortable.  My first thought was business casual but thought better to let people come however they feel their best.  No one should miss out because of dress code.  We only request that you remain within the legal public dress code requirements for the state of Utah… Loincloth, kilts, it might still be a bit nippy to dress down too far….

Discounted Tickets for MOLON ROUGE Dance Performance for $10.
If you want to attend the Dance Performance.  We have an arrangement with the dance company to provide a block of tickets for all who care to go.  They are offering discount tickets for all who call in ask for the ROB BAKER Party For Michael’s Memorial.  The Price is $10/ticket.  If you would like to go, Please call them directly and get your tickets… You may reach them at the Kingsbury Hall ticket office at 801 581 7100.  It is located at 1395 Presidents Cir #190, Salt Lake City UT 84112
.
This show is part of a series that the dance company is doing.  Kelli, Mike’s Niece, has a lot of dancing in the Wednesday night show call “Let it Be”, a dance tribute to the Beatles.  If you are around for that you may also request tickets.  If you want more info on the shows you can go to the website

COMMENTS
Submitted by Michael Sheedy, Police AIR-ONE:

I am a volunteer Tactical Flight Officer with the Law Enforcement Aviation Coalition (LEAC) and originally met Mike on June 29, 2006. I had called the USCG Waukegan air station in regards to having them come up to our hanger in Kenosha for an in-service training. I spoke with Mike and he thought it would be a great idea and made the necessary arrangements. What was supposed to be a 30-min meet and great turned into nearly 4 hours of shop talk!

That following weekend Mike invited my family and I to the hanger for a USO cook out, which we attended, and from that point on we formed a bond with him. We talked with him often and tried to get together each time he came in to Waukegan with the Coast Guard. We had the pleasure of seeing him fly around Chicago for the 4th of July fireworks (on July 3rd, 2006), saw him perform in the Waukegan air show that same year and also got to enjoy his company at a few more cookouts. One thing we had in common was the loved for a baked bean dish that had been bought to the cook outs. It is recipe officially called the "Fourth of July Bean Casserole", but since we shared our enjoyment of it we are going to rename it, and eat it, in remembrance of Michael Baker!

When Mike was in the process of leaving the Coast Guard, he came and stayed with us (on his way back to Michigan after his Air Evac interview) for a couple of days back in February (2007). Mike got to relax for a few days and spend some time with our children, who not only loved him and but he adored them. He really felt like a part of the family and we were so lucky to have had this time with him. Even though we had only know Mike for a very short time, it felt like we had known him our whole lives. Our biggest regret is that we did not have more time with him.

When we told Sam our 4 year old about the accident and that his friend, Mr. Baker, had died Sam simply replied, it's OK, I'll see him in heaven". Sam along with his older brother Alex are pictured with Mike below.

Tiffany grew up in a small town called Double Springs, Al.  She graduated from Winston County High School.  She then went to nursing school at the  University of North Alabama.  Ever since she became a nurse she wanted the excitement and adventure and aspired to be a flight nurse.  She worked at Helen Keller Hospital in the ER until she was given the opportunity to work for Air Evac.  Tiffany was a wonderful nurse, wife, and mother.  She has been married for 7 years to Josh Miles and has two adorable children, Noah, 6 years old, and Owen, 18 months old.  For those of you who did not know Tiffany, she loved to be with her family, take pictures, call on the phone and tell you ROLL TIDE ( her favorite college football team, University of Alabama), shop the day after Thanksgiving with her sister, go to the beach, and keep memories in her scrapbook.  Tiffany was patient, carefree, loved to laugh, and be silly.  Her mother often quotes that she came into this world laughing and giggling and was always happy.   You could not help but to love her due to her kind spirit. Tiffany will be missed but not forgotten.  She would be humbled by being called a hero and she would tell you if she was here that she was only doing her job.

Anyone who had ever met Allan knew what a big cut-up and prankster he was. He loved to laugh and have fun. In the nine years that he and I were together we spent as much time as possible doing just that, having fun, with each other, our kids, our families and especially our friends.

Allan was an awesome paramedic (one of the best) but he never considered himself as anything but average, despite myself or others telling him different. He was always striving to learn more. He loved what he was doing and he loved the people he worked with.

He had 2 children, Evan 17 and Destiny 11, 2 stepchildren Hope 20 and Isaac 17. Allan will forever be greatly missed by his family and friends.

Submitted by Eric Smith, AE-15:
I am a base pilot at Cullman, AL, Base 15.  Over the years, I have done a few work-overs at Base 16, and have had the privilege of working with these two fine crewpersons, both Allan and Tiffany.

The last time I saw Allan, was when we, AE-15, flew to a scene flight in the AE-16 coverage area, as they were currently also out on a scene flight.

After landing, and with our crew disembarked, I saw Allan approaching my aircraft, with a somewhat serious look on his face.  As I was still turning, I waved him in under the rotor arc.  I did not know that he also worked for the ground agency that was on-scene.  I opened the door, and leaned outward, pulling my ear cup away from my helmet, so that I could hear what he had to tell me.  To my utter surprise, Allan didn’t say a word, but rather, laid a big sloppy kiss on my right cheek!  HA!  Talk about “breaking the tension!”  I looked up, with what must have been a surprised/dazed look on my face, to see him just standing there smiling, and waving!

We busted out laughing so hard I was glad I had my harness on, or he may have had to pour me back into the aircraft!

Without saying a word, he strolled back up to the scene.

I’ve since heard that that is “typical Allan!”    : )
